AAI was formed in 1960 by nine anesthesiologists who believed there was a better way to handle the billing and management aspects of their businesses. Their vision: create a company run by the best business leaders with direction and guidance from those closest to the work – anesthesiologists themselves. For forty-seven years this operating model led AAI to become the largest west coast anesthesia-only practice management company. In early 2008 AAI merged with MiraMed Global Services, parent company of Anesthesia Business Consultants (ABC), to become the largest anesthesia-only services company in the country.
